Taking the Photo
As mentioned earlier, patience is vital. After initiating the timer, and with the item in your hand, prepare to drop the item. Timing is vital also; you want to ensure there should be one to two seconds left till the photo will be taken, then drop your item. The flash should be turned on as soon as there is a splash (when the picture is captured); it brings a better effect rather than if you leave the flash on the entire time. Although it takes less time and you may have a beautiful effect also when you live the external flash on the whole time, but turning it on as soon as the splash is initiated has a better result.
Make sure you do not drop it from a very high location; doing so will create a massive splash that the camera may not capture, and it can create a mess too.
Taking the photo is a trial and error process, so be patient and retry if you didn’t get the desired result. Keep on practising until you get the perfect photo, with constant practice, this can be done more quickly and with ease.
